Upon opening the box, you will find
the users manual, a higher gauge power cable, four velcro style
straps ,and four
screws. The manual is basic, but has enough information for
the user to properly install this power supply. The velcro
style straps can be used to tie up unused cables, as this power
supply is not modular.

The Power Supply:

The power supply features a glossy graphite colored chassis that
has a reflective surface. It looks great, but fingerprints may
show up quite easily. Note that FSP manufactures power
supplies for other vendors, such as OCZ. This model is almost
identical to the
OCZ ProXStream 1000 Watt that we've reviewed.

Looking at the side of the power
supply, there is an FSP label with their logo on it, the model
number and a condensed specification list. Note that there are four +12v rails, each supplying
up to 20 Amps, which is plenty of power for peripherals requiring
lots of it, such as a quad core processor and/or a multi-gpu system
setup. FSP seems to build their PSU's in house so this
power supply is manufactured by Fortron Source.

On the back (facing inside the computer case), there is a large
grille for the fan to intake cool air.

The rear (outside of case) features
an 80mm fan to cool off the entire power supply. There is no on/off
switch (which I personally do not like, because if these is a need
to shut off the computer, you would have to pull the plug from the
wall or the power supply itself instead), and an AC Power Input.
This power supply offers a full range power circuit and Active PFC,
so there is no need for a 110v / 240v switch.
The Cables:

-The blue sleeved cables are the PCI-Express
power connectors. Note that on the OCZ ProXStream 1000 Watt,
these cables are colored red.
This power supply features the following cables:

-A 20/24-pin ATX power connector.

-A 4-pin CPU ATX Power Connector

-An 8-pin EPS 12v CPU Power Connector

-2x 6-pin and 2x 6+2-Pin PCI-Express Power Connectors.
Note that the OCZ ProXStream 1000 Watt features 4x 6-Pin PCI-e
connectors and no 6+2 PCI-e connectors.

-6x Molex Power Connectors and 2x Floppy Power
Connectors.

-6x Serial ATA Power Connectors.
Cooling:
Cooling is handled by a single 80mm
fan in this power supply. When the system is idle, this fan is
a bit loud, making a constant whooshing sound. During testing, this
fan stayed at the same speed throughout the tests and it can be
heard over the test systems case, cpu, and gpu fans. The fan
speed did not seem to change at all.
Inside the Power
Supply:
* Taking this power supply apart
will void the warranty.

-Inside this power
supply, there is a two PCB's sandwiched together, which makes it
hard to get photos of the inside capacitors without taking most of
the PSU apart. There is a large silver colored metal plate on top of
two heatsinks, which are cooling off the voltage rectifiers.
The large transformer can be seen in the upper middle part of this
picture, being covered with a thermal pad.

-There are two pontimeters on top of
this PCB, perhaps they can be used to tweak rail voltages.
The fan inside is a Protechnic
Electric fan; Model MGT8012UB-R25, with a maximum draw of
0.66Amps. The high maximum draw indicates that this fan can get
quite loud.
Testing:
For this power supply, the test
system consists of the following:
-Antec Nine Hundred

-Intel Core 2 Duo
E6420 Dual Core Processor @ 3.4 GHz
-ZeroTherm BTF90

The results are excellent for this power
supply, the voltages did not budge at all.
Everything ran fine during testing; the system was stable and
performed the tests as expected. During the tests, the fan
speed stayed the same, which was a bit loud. The sound can be
quite bothersome if the rest of your systems fans are quiet. Installation of the
power supply was easy and there were no issues with the PSU fitting
in the case as this PSU is the same size as lower wattage PSU's
thanks to its sandwiched PCB design. There are plenty of power
connectors to power most components found in a PC enthusiasts system. Overall, the
FSP Kingcraft 1000 Watt is an excellent performer and offers enough
power to supply the most power hungry computer systems.
Pros +
-Excellent Power Delivery and Stability
-Two 6
Pin and Two 6+2-pin PCI-Express
Power Connectors
-PSU
is quite heavy
-ATi
Crossfire certified
-2 Year Warranty
Cons -
-Cooling
fan is a bit loud
