Cooler Master TLF-R82 L.E.D. Fan Review

Cooler Master is new opponent in the LED fan arena.  Many fan companies have tried to make LED fans to impress system builders and PC modders.  Some of them succeeded and some failed.  Lets have a look at the Cooler Master TLF-R82.

This box along with other Cooler Master products looks great.

Unpacking the box, the fan looks like any other LED fan on the market. But this fan uses the patented Rifle bearing, which is supposed to give off less noise.  The fan comes in at 25 decibels at 2500 rpms which is pretty good for a 80mm fan.

Also included in the box are 4 screws to mount the fan, and a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter.

Here are the specs from the Cooler Master website.

Specifications

  • Size: 80 x 80 x 25 mm

  • Rated Voltage: 12 VDC

  • Bearing Type: Rifle bearing (patented)

  • Input Current: 0.15 A

  • Rotation Speed: 2500 RPM

  • Air flow: 32.11 CFM

  • Acoustical Noise: 25.0 dB(A)

  • Input Power: 1.80 W.

  • Life Expectance: 50,000 hrs. Continuous at 25 Celsius, 45~85% relative humidity.

I will be using two other fans to compare this fan with.  They will be the Galaxy Crystal LED fan, and the Antec Trilight Tricolor LED fan.  The Cooler Master fan was whisper quiet during the testing.

In this picture you can see that the Antec Trilight (Middle) is the brightest around the whole fan, while the Cooler Master (Left) seems to be just a bit dimmer and the lights are more spread out, nonetheless it still looks great.  Keep in mind that the Cooler Master has 4 LED's and the Antec has 3.  The one on the right is the Galaxy Crystal LED fan.  It has its two LED's in the middle of the fan, causing the light to be only visible when looking directly at it.  It is pretty bright though.

Looking from the back of the fans, you can still see that the Antec is the brightest.  The Cooler Master still looks great though.  Galaxy's fan does not look too great from the back, since the LED are placed in the middle of the motor.

Looking from the top, the Cooler Master and Antec fans are about the same.  The Galaxy fan still suffers from the LED's placed in the middle.

In Conclusion, the Cooler Master fan is great for case modders and people that want to show off the insides of their computers.  It is also a great competitor to the Antec Trilight.

Stay tuned, a shootout article on all the current LED fans coming up. You don't want to miss that!

Some Pro's and Con's:

Pros:

-Great Visual Appearance

-Silent

-Very High Quality

Cons:

-The lights are just a bit dull when compared to the Antec LED fan.

Kuchzenhiemer Computer Review's gives the Cooler Master a 8.5 out of 10.  A great case modifying product!
